This Privacy Policy describes how Candle ("the App"), developed by osdev ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use the App. Candle is a focus/countdown timer app for Android.

By using Candle, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Candle does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, or other personal contact information.

1.1 Information stored only on your device

The following data is created by you while using the App and is stored locally on your device only, using standard Android app storage. It is not transmitted to us or to any server we control:

  • Your custom timer presets (names and durations)
  • Your theme preference (light/dark mode)
  • Your in-app points balance (used for the optional rewarded-ad feature described below)

If you uninstall the App, this locally-stored data is removed along with it.

1.2 Information collected via advertising

Candle shows optional rewarded video ads (you choose to watch one in exchange for in-app points) through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). To serve and measure these ads, Google and its advertising partners may automatically collect and process:

  • Advertising identifiers (such as your Android Advertising ID)
  • Device information (device type, operating system version, language, general region)
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, and completions)
  • Approximate, non-precise location (derived from IP address), where permitted

We do not receive or store the advertising identifiers or ad-interaction data collected by Google — that data is processed directly by Google's advertising systems.

2. Your Consent Choices (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Candle uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to ask for your consent (or to confirm legitimate interest, where applicable) before any personalized advertising data is collected, in line with GDPR and the Google EU User Consent Policy. You can change your consent choice at any time from the App's privacy/consent prompt where offered, or by resetting the App's ad-related permissions in your device's Android Settings.

You can also manage ad personalization directly through your device:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization (or Delete advertising ID, on newer Android versions)

3. Children's Privacy

Candle is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads served through the App use Google AdMob, which allows publishers to flag an app as child-directed; if you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us using the details below so we can address it.

4. Data Security & Retention

Because Candle does not operate its own backend server or account system, there is no centrally-stored personal profile for you to request or delete from us directly. Locally-stored app data (presets, theme, points) stays on your device until you clear the App's storage or uninstall it. Data collected by Google through the Mobile Ads SDK is retained and managed according to Google's own policies (see Section 1.2).

5. Permissions

Candle requests only the Android permissions necessary for displaying ads through Google Mobile Ads — specifically internet access, so the App can request and show the optional rewarded ad. Candle does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location services, or files.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App's features or in applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
